Quick SEO Tip

I’m going to tell you right off, I am not a SEO expert. I know the basic ‘ins and outs’ and apply quite a few of the the different techniques but I will never claim to be an expert in the SEO game.  Sometimes though, knowing the basics is a good starting point.

SEO for those of you who don’t know is ‘Search Engine Optimization.’

Search Engine Optimization is a process of choosing the most appropriate targeted keyword phrases related to your site and ensuring that this ranks your site highly in search engines so that when someone searches for specific phrases it returns your site on tops. It basically involves fine tuning the content of your site along with the HTML and Meta tags and also involves appropriate link building process.

Now, how do you know what keywords to use? You want to use keywords that people are looking for but you also want to use keywords that a million people are not already using.

The easiest way is to be able to look up the keyword you are thinking about optimizing and see how it rates.

So your quick tip for today is to check out the Wordtracker FREE Keyword Tool.  It will allow you to input a keyword and you give you a bunch of related words.  It will show you how many searches it gets and to find out how many returns, just pop the word into a search engine like Google and see how many pages are returned.  You’ll see what kind of competition there is for a specific keyword pretty quickly.
